Ayahuasca how to do it

Yesterday evening, March 14, the Hindu/Vaisnava holiday Gaura Purnima, I experienced my first intense ayahuasca trip. Last Christmas I had tried to make Ayahuasca from Banisteriopsis Caapi (50 grams) and Psychotria Viridis (50 grams), cooking it for hours, but this didnít give me a strong enough effect. So I decided to try the (cheaper) ayahuasca pack 4, containing Peganum Harmala and Mimosa Hostilis.

My approach to visionary psychedelics is similar to what Terence McKenna suggests: high doses, once or twice a month, in silence (no music) and in absolute darkness. This especially applies to mushrooms. Ayahuasca is often taken with others. I generally take psychedelics during Full Moon nights, and/or during harmonious transits of the Moon to some benefic planets in my horoscope (I have discovered the importance of this during my last three mushroom trips).

I cooked 3 grams of Peganum Harmala seeds with some lemon juice and vitamin C, and some Ginger, which I hoped would prevent the nausea. I did the same with the entire bag of Mimosa Hostilis, with the objective of sharing 1/3 with my partner. In the end she was too afraid and took 1/6 or so.

15 minutes after drinking the Peganum Harmala (which didnít cause any nausea) I took the awful tasting "Mimosa goo." I then took a pepermint, again to prevent nausea. It was now 21:00. After about 20 minutes, I vomited.

It was 23:00 when I decided to try again. By now the Full Moon was slightly eclipsed. First the Peganum Harmala, then the remains of the Mimosa Hostilis. No nausea this time, perhaps because this time I also smoked Cannabis. Then within an hour the trip came on, very strongly. It continued to build up until I started to lose my grip on everyday reality, floating into other realms of consciousness, with the most amazing iridescent colour patterns. I called my partner to be with me. But at a certain point my ramblings became totally meaningless as I experienced the most intense levels of inner ecstacy I had ever experienced in this life, and my trip seemed to determine the future of the entire Earth and cosmos, whether it would continue to exist and whether good or evil would prevail. With hard work, investing my very essence, I fixed the problem, and both the other world and myself became jubilent. I started shouting: "Whooo!!! Lydia?" "Yes?" "Itís beautiful! Whooo!!! Lydia?" "Yes?" "Itís beautiful! Whooo!" and so on. Also I kept repeating "These are the times. These are the times." By the end of the peak I was very confident that the end of history in December 2012 is nothing to fear, just like death is nothing to fear. It is beautiful. Words cannot express the beauty of the amazing rainbows and melting together of the self and all that is. When the peak was over, I went over to my two children who were still sleeping, and there seemed to be some therapeutic stuff going on there. In any case I stayed awake until 3 or 4 in the morning, looking at the Full Moon, which looked like light at the end of a tunnel. I had to wake up next morning at 7:30, which amazingly was no problem at all.

Next time I will take the Mimosa Hostilis in smaller amounts, so that I don't vomit it all out, and even if I do vomit I will not waste a large portion of the brew. I think I should also start earlier in the evening, so that my euphoria is over when I and my partner have to go to sleep. Full Moon still seems a very good practice, unless such a Full Moon would coincide with a Moon square Saturn or something like that.

Compared to my recent experiments with Psilocybe Cubensis (5 to 6 grams of dried mushrooms) this one was at least as intense, and certainly much more ecstatic. And perhaps I did save the universe, who knows?

Looks like you had yourself an awesome trip. Woohoo !!

Well you sound strange enough. I mean no offense by that. Do you know horoscopes were developed in the days of druids and over time the eventual shift of the stars relative to the Earth means that your 'sign' actually isn't your 'sign' but the one before or after your's is. Making horoscopes more useless then they ever were. Just thought I would give you a heads up. Pseudosciences are a pet peeve, sorry.

That is why I apply the sidereal zodiac and not the tropical zodiac. And there's only one reason why I practice astrology: it works. I don't think it should work, in fact I don't fully understand why it works so wonderfully, but I cannot deny that it does. It works.

if the signs are off in astrology then the personality descriptions of the signs must be wrong as well because there is no doubt about it, i am an aquarius.

@ Darwin: Yes, I know, that's why I practice sidereal/Vedic astrology, which takes the precession of the equinoxes into account. Astrology wasn't developed by the druids however. Check out Project Hindsight for information in that regard. And as far as planetary transits are concerned, their calculations and interpretations are not dependent on the zodiac. Since I didn't mention anything about zodiac signs, I wonder why you did.

@ solarkat: You're not "an aquarius". At most, a significant planet (the Sun or Moon for example) is in aquarius, but that doesn't make your entire personality that of an aquarius. You can't divide all of humanity in 12 groups and expect reliable interpretations. True astrology is much, much more complex than that.

After much reading, and talking to people, I wanted the full DMT effect, so I smoked 40mg out of a glass pipe (or an 'oil-burner', as the head shop called it). I sat in a luxury chair in the early afternoon listening to the instrumental soundtrack from "Shaft". I had a loved one with me who lit the bottom of the glass.

The crystals turned to smoke and I was able to get 2 big hits before the DMT melted onto the glass. I felt an immediate full-body and head rush accompanied by a psychedelic field of color. My hands in particular felt really heavy. The head rush was very strong. I remember saying "I'm fighting it" as it started, and I also heard a hissing sound. Next, I stopped talking, started laughing a lot, and was compelled to close my eyes. I saw the formation of an intense, geometric face while my eyes were closed. Like if the patterns you normally see when closing your eyes came to life. The colors all joined together, creating an unfamiliar face that kept intensifying, almost vibrating as I kept my eyes closed. All of this was a little scary at first, but I quickly began enjoying it and laughing. For me, opening my eyes did not show images as vividly as closing them did. So I kept my eyes closed, and after about 2 minutes the face faded away. Finally opening my eyes, objects had an unusual visual resonance...they had extra definition that ordinarily wasn't there. After about 2 more minutes of that, the experience was over. Or, maybe not totally over. I continued to have brief, open-eye flashbacks for days afterward, and intense closed-eye flashbacks for weeks afterward.

DMT is a strange experience. I described it to someone I saw later that day as 'laughing in the face of terror'. I frequently took psychedelics in my teens (I'm now in my late 30's), and this one is definitely unique. Although it is a brief experience, I still felt physically gross afterwards. The smoke is harsh, it just pounds your lungs, and the whole room around me smelled bad. The experience was also emotionally taxing for me, like I laid some kind of guilt trip on myself (this may have to do with my age). You should probably rest well and eat healthy before smoking this. I'm glad I tried it, it really is a VERY interesting 5 minutes. But with the amount I have left over, I think I'll smoke it 'weed-style' next time. That is, mixed with herb in a regular pot pipe. I'm told this brings about a milder version of the above experience.

As intense as DMT is, I will say that I still think LSD takes the cake; it is still the definitive psychedelic experience. I think some of the other DMT reports I've heard were somewhat exaggerated. For example, the guy who gave this to me said he "did DMT and a whippet, and loved it". If DMT was as debilitating as some people say it is, then how could you possibly do a whippet while smoking it? However, this fast-acting and mysterious extract is still very powerful. In a word - wow.

seriously... you and you´re partner took a halucinogenic drug while you´re children we´re sleeping? ... I am all about good trips.. but it sounds a bit unresponsible.. what would you have done if something bad happened?

  • Humanoid - 2011-05-21 23:47:43 +1

Aqua you probably didnt do it the right way.
Check out DMT- the spirit molecule on youtube or joe rogan talking about it there. Its NOTHING like LSD!! IT is the most potent psycadelic known to man!

  • dervaish - 2014-03-17 16:25:38

Could you please elaborate on the making process.

Did you use seeds only? not the extract? can seeds me used for both peganum Harmala and Mimosa Hostilis?
